Tips for eating less and enjoying more.

Do you ever feel frustrated to learn that the foods you love cost you more than you bargained for (in calories)? The good news is, if you choose high nutrient density, low energy foods (foods packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber and low in calories), you can actually lose weight while enjoying a larger quantity of food.

While choosing the right foods is ideal, we can't always make the best decision. Below are a few tips for controlling your portions:

1. Prepare less food at meal times. It will simply limit the quantity of food you can eat.
2. Start with a small portion. Chances are, you'll feel content with a smaller portion size.
3. Slow down! Taking just 20 minutes to finish you serving at each meal can prevent over-eating.
4. Listen to cues! If your stomach is full, stop eating. Taking time to eat (tip #3), will also help you pay attention to cues.
5. If your portion is larger, eat half and make yourself wait 20 minutes to eat the rest.
6. Eat regularly. Snacking isn't bad if you make good choices! Strive for a fiber packed, nutrient dense snack in between meals so you aren't ravenous by meal time.

We hope that these tips help you feel confident when sizing up your next meal!

Best wishes for continued success on your journey to weight loss, maintenance and health
